Year 1 - Pegasus: Anansi the Spider

Pegasus class have started their new book, Anansi the Spider as part of our new topic Black History Month.

You can see the story:

The story Anansi the Spider comes from West Africa in the country Ghana. To start our new topic we have been learning the folk song Che Che Koolay, this is a Ghanan song which is similar to the song head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. We will be performing this for you in the coming weeks!

As you learn from listening to the story, Anansi finds himself lost after leaving home one day. As part of Pegasus' class literacy work they have been making missing posters to place around the school in the hope Anansi finds his way home. In the coming weeks we will be finding out more about spiders and looking into our historical figure Frank Bailey the first black fire fighter in London, and as always we are continuing our transition into year 1 from Reception and still have the same great activities to facilitate learning.
